KitsNet server are implemented as a series of guest VMs on a KVM server. Aside from hosting the KVM guest instances, the only functions that execute directly on the KVM host are:
- KVM guest management, including serving socat connections to guest serial consoles
- Linux RPM repo
- Backup to external media
- RIAD array management
- UPS monitoring
- Open vSwitch management
- chrony clock source
No general user access to the KVM host is permitted.
